The Kanko (Full Circle) Collection

The kanko (full circle) collection

An elegant expression of culture and luxury

The Kanko Collection was exclusively designed by our brand Founder, Elysia Randolph, to pay homage to her Ghanaian heritage and celebrate her roots. Kanko, meaning ‘full circle’ in the Akan language, represents returning home, and with each handcrafted gold-vermeil piece, you can proudly celebrate your unique journey and origins around your neck, wrist, ankle or ears to connect with, cherish and share with others.

All pieces in the collection are easily wearable from day to night and add the perfect touch of elegance to any outfit. The collection features 5 pieces, including necklaces, earrings, a bracelet, and an anklet. Each features the Sankofa symbol, exuding an elegant expression of culture and luxury.

OUR INSPIRATION

OUR HERITAGE
Inspired by Ghana and her childhood, Elysia wanted to honor the tradition of her grandmother piercing her and her cousins’ ears when she was young, at home in Ghana. Jewelry is often passed down from generation to generation, like traditions, and Elysia hopes to continue her grandmother’s traditions and legacy by introducing this line of demi-fine jewelry for women all over the world to wear and connect with their homes and heritage.

SYMBOLISM & HISTORY
The West African Adinkra symbol that takes the spotlight for this collection is Sankofa. The word Sankofa directly translates to ‘go back and get it’, which represents celebrating your journey and how far you’ve come but never forgetting where you came from.

Handcrafted and Ethically Sourced

THE FINEST MATERIALS
Our gold vermeil jewelry consists of sterling silver with three layers of plated 18k gold on top, making it significantly more durable than gold-plated or gold-filled jewelry. Our materials do not contain any irritants that will cause skin reactions or allergies. We work with jewelers who use high-quality and sustainable materials. All the factories that we work with are Responsible Jewelry Council certified.

EXQUISITE CRAFTMANSHIP
As with all Kaiem products, we strive to present the highest quality pieces using the best materials. Transparency, sustainability and social good are at the very heart of our manufacturing partner's program.
